Kevin has been the Head Librarian at 宾州州立大学阿宾顿分校 since March of 2023. He previously worked at the University of Colorado Denver, serving as the 教育 and Outreach Services Department Head for Auraria 图书馆 from 2018 to 2023, as well as being Auraria's First-Year Teaching and Learning Librarian from 2015 to 2018. Before that he was 图书馆 Instruction Coordinator at Colorado State University-Pueblo from 2011 to 2015 and a 图书馆 Operations Supervisor at Florida State University's Strozier 图书馆 from 2006 to 2011.

My research is focused on information literacy pedagogy and and algorithmic bias. I'm currently working on a project to apply the concept of hermeneutics (theory of interpretation) to automated systems of information evaluation. I'm researching this because libraries rely on a lot of "black box" algorithms, whose underlying logic is proprietary/hidden, “解释,“评估, 对搜索结果进行排序. I'm interested in making that underlying logic more visible so that it can be contextualized and critiqued.

I'm also curious about how we can use the curriculum to raise awareness of this technology with undergraduate students, in the hopes of better equipping them to navigate an increasingly-automated world.
